Sharing The Journey
A community group for Jewish men affected by cancer to share the journey, together.
Receiving a cancer diagnosis changes more than your health.
It shifts your sense of identity, your relationships, your role at home and at work⦠the parts that no scan can measure, but are central to your life.
This is a space for men navigating that terrain, together.
"Sharing the Journey" is a community support group for men affected by cancer. Whether newly diagnosed, in treatment, in recovery, or living with uncertainty, this is a place you can come to connect with others in the same life-stage, and share the journey.
We gather by the fire, men-only, to share about our lives in an open, casual environment. Itβs not therapy, itβs not an educational workshop, itβs community and connection. Facilitated by Jason Seeman from Raising Fathers, and supported by Jewish Care Victoria, this event series will take place across 9 months and is completely free for the community.
Wherever your journey is at, there's a way to share it, together.
Jewish Care VIC is proud to provide a 9-month community group for Jewish men, free of charge, led by Jason from Raising Fathers.
FAQs

Any man affected by cancer.
Newly diagnosed, in treatment, in recovery, or living with uncertainty.
You don't need a particular type or stage. If cancer is part of your life, you belong here.
It is aimed at Jewish men in Victoria, however if you are not a Jewish man and would like to come you are welcome to.
-
No. This is a peer-support circle. Men sitting together, sharing honestly, and supporting each other, led and facilitated by Jason Seeman from Raising Fathers.
It's not clinical care, and it's not run by a psychologist. If you need clinical support, weβre glad to help point you toward it.
-
Nope. You're welcome to simply sit and listen. The circle moves at a pace that respects each man's comfort level; you share only what you want, when you want.
-
We share a meal, sit in a circle, and talk about the things that are hard to say elsewhere.
The first gathering (18 October) also has a second purpose: shaping what the program becomes, so your voice helps design it.
-
It's open to all. The program is created with and for the Jewish community, but no one is turned away.
-
It's free. The program is funded so that cost is never a barrier to showing up. Registration is essential, however, as spots are limited.
-
Yes. What's shared in the circle stays in the circle. That trust is what makes the space work.
-
This first circle is a space for the men themselves. How partners and family fit into the wider program is one of the things we'll explore together, so watch this space.
-
Nope. You are free to choose the degree to which you engage with this. Come every month, come once - all good.
-
Of course. Just email us at info@raising-fathers.com and weβll get in touch to answer any questions or jump on the phone for a chat.

Jason Seeman
Founder & Facilitator, Raising Fathers
Jason Seeman is a men's group facilitator based in Melbourne and the founder of Raising Fathers. For over a decade he's created spaces where men can put down what they've been carrying and speak honestly, without having to perform, explain, or justify.
His work on fatherhood and men's wellbeing has been featured on national television and across numerous podcasts, and his grounding in this work includes time with The Man Cave and the Rites of Passage Institute with Dr Arne Rubinstein OAM.
He won't claim to know what a diagnosis feels like from the inside. What he brings is a steady, unhurried presence and the experience to hold a group so the men in it can find their own words and share a powerful experience.
This circle isn't therapy, and Jason isn't here as an expert on your life. He's here to hold the space, provide some structure, and an open environment so that no man has to face this on his own.
