Why does this exist?

True North is an in-depth, evidence-based, Live Online Course for expectant fathers to build confidence and clarity as they step into fatherhood, truly prepared.

Our 6-week course, run in small cohorts, gives you everything you need to support mum in pregnancy, childbirth, and crucially how to manage all the competing priorities new lifestyle shifts that arrive with baby. We cover core mindsets, current evidence, practices, routines and tools to support you for birth and early fatherhood so that you and your partner feel secure, ready, and excited for the day baby arrives.

We’ve helped dads Australia-wide prepare for this life-changing journey. This course is midwife-supported and is packed with evidence-based strategies, as well as personal experiences from your guide and the men we’ve worked with so that you get a balance of what the data says, and what dadda’s say.

Is True North right for me?

True North is for committed dads-to-be who don’t want to enter fatherhood spinning their wheels, agonising over what to do next, or simply doubting their ability to stay on top of all of the change that’s about to happen.

Thriving as a new father in early parenthood means knowing how to build trust with your partner, how to bond with baby, and take care of yourself in the process.

YES, TRUE NORTH works for dads who are ‘trying’, going through IVF or surrogacy, or have a partner who is already pregnant. Any man who is on the journey to becoming dad will fit in here.

Hear From True North Fathers

  • Life changing. What I learned from Jason’s program was pivotal in how I prepared to be a father and establish a family. We welcomed our baby girl last week and so many of the new tools I learned in True North to support my partner (and myself) had an enormous impact on our and our babies experience. I’m already seeing these advantages continue into postpartum too. Couldn’t recommend this wonderful experience which I’ll remember for the rest of my life any higher.

  • I loved taking the 8-week True North Fatherhood course with Raising Fathers, and it's a course every new father should consider for a great start to fatherhood and maintaining a strong, healthy relationship with their partner. There's not much focus on educating fathers for fatherhood, and most fathers seem to get caught off guard when the big days come. This course was essential and beneficial for me in preparing for birth and fatherhood. And 2.5 months in, I'm thrilled by how things are going. I have a lot to thank this course for!

  • This taught me how to be a better father for myself, my partner and baby.

    Andrew M.

  • This was the best and changed how i feel about all this

    Josh P.

  • Oh yeah, he's raved each week about how beautifully you hold the group but also each time he says, "okay this has been the most importsnt week content wise". And then we launch into a two hour debrief.. every time! It's been deeply rich for him and I have a feeling will continue to be in the weeks and months after the course wraps too. I'm sure he'll share this with you directly as well, but yes, please know from me how much we've gotten out of it. Well done you

FAQs

  • Yes! If you and your partner are currently ‘trying’ then you are certainly welcome to join the course as it’ll prepare you for all the twists and turns of fatherhood, which certainly begin at the conception phase for parenting.

  • Show up to the 6× 90-minute calls. If you need to miss a session, that’s fine -w e record them all and provide access to members. Outside of training sessions, you’ll be given activities to do solo/with your partner that may take up to 30-mins per week.

  • Yes, with assistance. Jason is a birth-educator in training for his certification, and will be supported by an IBCLC Midwife and Lactation Consultant who has witnessed hundreds of births.

  • No, this is run online on zoom. As such, you can join from anywhere in the world provided you can join the calls live, which will be run 7pm-8:30pm AEDT (Sydney time).

  • It’s quite different, and we recommend that you do both for different reasons. Birth classes at the hospital are almost exclusively focused on the birthing woman (and fair enough) and concentrate on the birth itself. This course, on the other hand, is more holistic and, importantly, talks extensively about actual fatherhood — meaning that as soon as birth is over, what do you do, what are your priorities, and how do you hold it all together for your partner, your baby and yourself.

  • Becoming a father is new and challenging, no matter what your journey in or family format. We’re here to support you and you are absolutely welcome in True North.

  • No. We welcome men from all backgrounds, but this course isn’t designed to be affiliated with any particular faith group or religion.

  • Feel free to contact us on the contact page. Someone will get back to you within 48 hours.
