Frequently Asked Questions

  • TLDR: It’s a 6 week program with ongoing support and community after the 6-weeks are complete.

Successful applicants gain access to the following:

    1. Designated cohort of up to 6 men who do the course together - live, online, with Jason across 6 weeks on zoom.

    2. The broader Raising Fathers community so you can join our monthly meet ups online and in person to meet other dads and get advice/tips form a dad who might be just a couple of steps ahead of you on the journey.

    3. A dedicated 1:1 private mentoring session with Jason (valid for 1 year from when the course begins so that you can use it during the 6 weeks or once bubba is here)

    4. A midwife led session on birth where you and the other dads can ask her anything. She’s personally delivered hundreds of kids and knows the system very well.

    5. A curated list of parenting resources, templates, activities updated regularly as Jason reads thousands of pages of books on parenting and distills it in a packaged way so you don’t have to.

  • True North is for committed dads-to-be who don’t want to enter fatherhood spinning their wheels, agonising over what to do next, or simply doubting their ability to stay on top of all of the change that’s about to happen.

Thriving as a new father in early parenthood means knowing how to build trust with your partner, how to bond with baby, and take care of yourself in the process.

YES, TRUE NORTH works for dads who are ‘trying’, going through IVF or surrogacy, or have a partner who is already pregnant. Any man who is on the journey to becoming dad will fit in here.

  • Show up to the 6× 90-minute calls. If you need to miss a session, that’s fine - we record them all and provide access to members. Outside of training sessions, you’ll be given activities to do solo/with your partner that may take up to 30-mins per week.

  • Nope! We work with you for 6-weeks online, live on zoom. You’ll unmute yourself and participate live. The calls themselves are recorded so that you can go back and watch it with your partner, or post-birth so you can brush up on any of the lessons we’ve covered throughout

  • This isn’t for men who are already dads. 1/3 of the course covers birth preparation, and while the remaining 2/3 of the course would be applicable to you, we prefer to keep the space as men who are either expecting dads (with pregnant partner) or are planning to have kids soon.

It’s not for men who just want quick answers and ‘the basics’. This course goes into depth and is participatory - meaning you need to be present and engaged to complete it.

  • I’ve spent the last 10 years working with parents, educators and young people in social-emotional learning within the education system, I’m undergoing Lamaze certification as a birth educator and Aware Parenting certification.

I have singlehandedly helped over 60 dads in the last 12 months to become better fathers, prepare for birth and postpartum and my work has over 25 5-star google reviews spanning courses, community, and 1:1 mentoring.

I’ve been featured on SBS Insight for this work as well as multiple podcasts that you can view here.

If you can find a more qualified person to help you prepare for fatherhood, then by all means go and learn from them (honestly!). The main thing is that you learn from a person you trust and align with, which is only a judgement you can make for yourself.

  • It’s quite different, and we recommend that you do both for different reasons. Birth classes at the hospital are almost exclusively focused on the birthing woman (and fair enough) and concentrate on the birth itself. This course, on the other hand, is more holistic and, importantly, talks extensively about actual fatherhood — meaning that as soon as birth is over, what do you do, what are your priorities, and how do you hold it all together for your partner, your baby and yourself.

  • Below is a list of topics we cover, and is non-exhaustive. Also, because every person and cohort is unique we’ll lean into each topic in differing degrees based on what the group needs.

  • Yes! If you and your partner are currently ‘trying’ then you are certainly welcome to join the course as it’ll prepare you for all the twists and turns of fatherhood, which certainly begin at the conception phase for parenting.

  • No, this is run online on zoom. As such, you can join from anywhere in the world provided you can join the calls live, which will be run 7pm-8:30pm AEDT (Sydney time).

  • Becoming a father is new and challenging, no matter what your journey in or family format. We’re here to support you and you are absolutely welcome in True North.

  • Each group has between 4 - 6 men in it, plus Jason as facilitator. This is done intentionally so that you get the attention and support you need. The sessions aren’t a simple ‘lecture’ format - if they were it’d be a video course. Instead, it’s workshop based where we do activities together to get you ready.

  • The program involves:

    • Attending 6 x weekly calls live (if you miss one or two that’s fine, you can watch the recording)

    • Homework tasks to do with your partner ranging from 15m - 45m.

    • An optional but highly recommended 1:1 session with Jason

We get it. Life gets busy in the lead up to having kids. And… you’re going to save yourself hours of stress-googling “is this normal” when you inevitably encounter the issues that arise for couples and parents of new babies. By doing this course you’re front-loading your challenge and awareness so that you enter fatherhood ready.

And if you don’t have or make the time to invest in yourself and your family before baby comes. we can guarantee you’re going to have far less time on the other side, and you may wonder why you didn’t invest more time when you actually had it and just ‘thought’ you were busy.

  • Feel free to contact us on the contact page. Someone will get back to you within 48 hours.

  • No. You don’t need to do a course.

You might have scoured the internet for the best list of books, podcasts, experts and read thousands of pages of books and you feel ready. If so, great - don’t do this.

But for most dads-to-be, they’re busy working and doing their life, they want to be the best dad they can be, but they’d rather learn from someone who has ben through it before them, can draw on personal experience form having 2 kids, name the potholes and mess-ups to avoid, and who has worked with men all around the country to prep them for fatherhood.

And yes, fatherhood is something to prepare for. If you take it seriously like any other endeavour in your life (getting a new job, playing a sport, sitting an exam) you prepare for it, you study, you get support so you’re match-fit on game day. This is the most important game day of your life - why leave it to chance?

  • Maybe. It depends. We’ve had dads join the course and have their baby mid-way through. Book in a call with us and we can discuss if it’s a good fit.

Founder & Facilitator, Raising Fathers

Jason Seeman

I help men grow into great fathers by preparing them for birth and early fatherhood - because when when fully show up, families and culture thrive. I have over a decade of experience designing and delivering programs that support men, families, and communities through major life transitions. My professional background spans law, education, and social-emotional learning.

I’m a father of two, and have been with my wife for over 15 years. Like many men, fatherhood asked more of me than I expected. True North was born from this intersection of lived experience and the work I’ve done in education, designing programs for people globnally.

In 2025 I personally supported more than 60 expectant and new dads to prepare for birth, navigate the early months of parenting, and strengthen their relationships during one of the most demanding seasons of life.

My work has been featured SBS Insight and across podcasts and media platforms focused on modern fatherhood, mental health, and relationships.
